Riyadh (June 5, 2016): Ramadan Moon 2016 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait therefore Monday, June 6, will be the first day of the holy month, Sial News reported.
Ramazan Moon 2016 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Far East region after which 1st Ramazan 1437 Hijri would fall in the mentioned countries on Monday.
The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on all Muslims across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to sight the Crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan Moon 2016 today, Sunday evening, Shaaban 29, 1437 AH, corresponding to June 05, 2016.
Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported that in an announcement, the Supreme Court also called on whoever sees the Crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan by naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register his testimony, or report to the authority of the region’s centre in his area where he sighted the Crescent in order to facilitate his reaching to the nearest court.
Monday, June 6, is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in the UAE, Dubai Media Office tweeted.
Media reports said that the Ramzan Moon 2016 has been sighted in Kuwait also.
During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk.
The holy month is sacred to Muslims because tradition says the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) during that month.
In Pakistan, the meetings of Zonal/Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will be held at their respective offices on 29th Shaban (Monday) for sighting the crescent of Ramazan.
