RAIWIND (Web Desk): Police Elite Force and security forces completed the operation successfully and took control of a compound occupied by two terrorists in a small village near Lahore, SAMAA reported Thursday.
IG Punjab confirmed that there were only two terrorists inside the house. One of them was killed in the action while another captured in injured condition.
He said religious literature, detonators, sub-machine guns (SMGs), explosives and two motorbikes were recovered from the house when troops thoroughly combed the place. The operation continued for ten hours.
The troops fired teargas shells, hurled crackers and hand grenades before entering the house from where the terrorists used heavy weapons against the police early on Thursday, leaving a policeman dead and four others injured.
According to SAMAA correspondent, the police arrested owner of the house and shifted him to an undisclosed location.
The exchange of fire started at around 2:00AM and continued till morning.
The operation was launched on information about presence of a group of terrorists in the compound.
Heavy contingents of police, Elite Force commandos and Rangers were called in to capture the terrorists.
Speaking to reporters on the spot, Provincial Minister Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada said that the operation was warped up but a search operation will be conducted in the area to ensure no terrorist is in the locality.
Replying to a question about identity of the terrorists, he said they appear to be locals.
