In another sign that fall is just around the corner, Apple sent out invitations to an event taking place at the Steve Jobs Theater on Tuesday, September 12, where we expect to see the next iPhone and Apple Watches announced. The annual iPhone fall event has become a cultural touchpoint that heralds the end of summer, right up there with the taste of pumpkin.
Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone 15 range at an event in September 2023. At the same time, we are likely to see new Apple Watches and possibly other new products as well. Here you will find everything you need to know.

When is Apple Event 2023?
In 2023, Apple’s iPhone event will take place on Tuesday, September 12.
This is a little later than in 2022, when Apple’s September event was held on Wednesday, September 7, but that was an earlier date than the annual iPhone event had been held in recent years; for example, in 2021 the event was held on Tuesday. September 14, and 2020 it was even later, but 2020 was an unusual year due to COVID-19.
In previous years, we learned that Apple Store workers were warned about a “major new product launch” on a specific date in September and were not allowed to book time off. According to 9to5Mac, several carriers are telling their employees not to take off on September 13 due to a major announcement. This could be because the store anticipated an influx of shoppers the next day, although the iPhone is unlikely to be available for order. anticipated until a week later.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman correctly indicated that the event would take place on Tuesday, September 12.
What time will the Apple iPhone event 2023 start?

Will the iPhone event be live?
Apple hasn’t held a truly live event since September 2019. Instead, it shows a pre-recorded video at the time it would be a live event and often has a small hands-on area to show off new products. Gurman predicts that will be the case again, with members of the press gathering at Apple Park to watch the same video that Apple will show to the rest of the world.
What will Apple launch at the September 2023 event?
We expect the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to be the stars of the event, closely followed by the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, but there are likely other new products on the way too, including the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple WatchUltra. 2. We may also see a new iPad mini and the long-rumored AirPods Lite. We may also see new Apple Earpods with USB-C replacing the Lightning versions.
At the iPhone event, Apple will also likely announce the date it will release the new iOS 17 and watchOS 10 operating systems, likely a few days after the event. We may also get a download date for iPadOS 17, which usually launches at the same time as iOS, but sometimes iPadOS launches a little later. Apple is also likely to reveal when the next updates to the tvOS and HomePod software will be available.
At the 2022 iPhone 14 event we saw Apple launch the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (2nd generation), Apple Watch Ultra, and AirPods Pro (second generation). It was a lot of new products, we don’t expect that much new hardware this September.
Here’s everything we expect from Apple’s September 2023 event:
iPhone 15, Plus, Pro, and Max (or maybe Ultra)
It looks like we’ll be getting four new iPhones this year, a similar lineup to 2022, with a standard iPhone 15 and a larger Plus model and a more advanced iPhone 15 Pro and a larger Max. There are rumors that the Max could become an Ultra. Rumors suggest that the Pro models are the ones that get the most new features, as usual, although it may be the case that the Max-sized model gets new features that the Pro misses out on.
- iPhone 15: Same 6.1-inch screen but with Dynamic Island, A16 processor, same 6GB RAM but can adopt LPDDR5 RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become a status button solid, new green, yellow, and pink finishes.
- iPhone 15 Plus: same 6.7-inch screen but with Dynamic Island, A16 processor, same 6 GB RAM but can adopt LPDDR5 RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become a power button Solid condition, new green, yellow and pink finishes.
- iPhone 15 Pro: same 6.1-inch screen with ProMotion and Dynamic Island, thinner bezels and rounded corners, A17 processor, 8 GB RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, mute switch to become a button Solid state, new dark red finish.
- iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra): Same 6.7-inch display with ProMotion and Dynamic Island, thinner bezels and rounded corners, A17 processor, 8GB RAM, U2 chip, USB-C instead of Lightning, power switch mute to solid state button, new dark red finish, 6x optical zoom periscope lens, support for 8K video recording.
Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra
It seems there is more than one Apple Watch in the pipeline. An Apple Watch 9 and a new Apple Watch Ultra will arrive with a new chip, but not much else.
- Apple Watch 9: Same 41mm and 45mm size, S9 chip, better battery life.
- Apple Watch Ultra: Same 49mm size, S9 chip, better battery life.
iPad mini
This isn’t as secure as iPhones and watches, but we could see a new iPad mini launch at the September event, if we do, here’s what to expect:
- iPad mini (7th gen): A16 chip, increased storage (we hope).
AirPods
- The AirPods Max needs an update.
- There are rumors about AirPods Lite, said to be $99 earbuds from Apple.
- We could just see a minor USB-C-related update.
We hope to see these at the September event.
New Apple iPhone 15 Release dates
The following release dates are likely to occur if the iPhone 15 event takes place on Tuesday, September 12 or Wednesday, September 13:

Even with all of these potential releases, Apple won’t be done this year. There are rumors that Apple will launch a new iMac M3 and other Macs at an October event.
