After a highly entertaining three-match Test series that ended 1-1, Pakistan and New Zealand now play two T20 Internationals whose only significance appears to be to give hopefuls an extra chance to put their names into contention before the respective selection committees start picking probables for the 50-over ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

The tournament however is likely to take on a more emotional significance after the two teams decided to dedicate the T20 trophy to the deceased Phillip Hughes.

Pakistan´s Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi has termed Hughes death as tragic and said that his departure has left the cricketing world in a state of shock.

“Hughes died very young and his tragic death has left everyone shocked,” Afridi said on Wednesday. He also appreciated tournament sponsors for their initiative to dedicate the trophy to pay tribute to the late cricketer.

The first of two match Twenty 20 series will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
