Punjab families owning a small plot but lacking construction funds can build through Apni Chhat Apna Ghar.
Launched on 21 August 2024, the programme gives interest-free construction loans through the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, with the Bank of Punjab handling disbursement.
Scale so far runs large. Portal counters on 28 September 2026 showed 212,531 loans disbursed, worth around Rs273.7 billion, with 119,842 houses completed and 57,438 under construction. Cabinet approval on 19 October 2026 added Rs60 billion for 40,000 more loans through the Bank of Punjab. UN-Habitat recognised the programme with its Scroll of Honour in October 2026.

- Sole owners or possessors of the plot where the house will stand.

Construction in Tranches
Disbursement follows construction progress, not a single lump sum. Loan tiers of Rs500,000, Rs1,000,000 and Rs1,500,000 tie to construction stages, so applicants receive funds as each stage completes. Planning should match that rhythm, with foundations, structure and finishing each funded in turn.
Applicants should keep construction receipts and stage photographs ready, since tranche release depends on verified progress. Delays between stages pause later tranches, so a realistic building schedule protects the loan flow as much as the application itself.
