Australians ushered in the New Year with a spectacular Sydney fireworks display by Sydney Harbour.
An estimated one-and-a-half million people thronged to Australia’s biggest city to welcome in 2015, as seven tonnes of fireworks fireworks formed a stunning backdrop to iconic monuments like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
The pyrotechnics display consisted of 11,000 shells, 100,000 individual effects and 25,000 shooting comets at a cost of $6.8m AUD (£3.57m) according to organisers.
