Karachi Sindh: An anti-terror court has sent Dr Asim Hussain to jail till December 30, on Tuesday.
During the hearing held Dr Asim requested that he be sent to jail and not in the custody of NAB. He said that he was arrested by the Rangers on August 26 and interrogated 18 times. I have been in custody for 120 days. I don’t know what they want from me.
In the last hearing Dr Asim had said that his life was in danger and the Rangers were torturing him in custody to obtain a confession.
Dr Asim has been transferred to the National Accountability Bureau.
Director General NAB, Sindh Lieutenant Colonel Siraj ul Naeem (Retd) has already confirmed that his Bureau had established several cases of corruption against Dr Asim and his organisation would initiate a formal inquiry against him after conclusion of police investigations.
The Sindh Rangers registered a case against Dr Asim at a North Nazimabad police station last month. He was accused of assisting and sheltering terrorists.
Dr Asim was serving as chairman of the Higher Education Commission when he was arrested.
