Real Madrid will enter this midweek round of fixtures tied on points for the lead in La Liga through five matches. So far, Los Blancos have taken 11 points, winning three times and drawing twice. They have now won two in a row following their big win at Sevilla that saw them leapfrog them on Sunday. With Barcelona playing poorly right now and Atletico not looking at their best, they will feel they have a legitimate opportunity to recapture the crown, even if times are not the greatest.
Real Madrid brought Sevilla’s four-match unbeaten run to an abrupt halt last week on the road with Benzema slotting the only goal of the game to hand Los Blancos a much-deserved win. The victory was also a much-needed breather for Zidane and his men who were feeling the heat following their shock 3-0 defeat at Paris in the Champions League.
Osasuna will come into this match on the back of some very good form in La Liga. In fact, they are unbeaten through their first five matches of the season, though it’s not quite as impressive as it sounds at first. They have one win, in their opener against Leganes and four draws. That’s not awful, and it shows they are very tough to beat, but it also shows they might have some difficulty winning when it matters, too.
