Pakistan Test batsman and former captain Azhar Ali is hoping for a full-fledged Australian side to tour Pakistan, and they are working very hard for what will be an exciting Test series.
Speaking in Lahore, Azhar said it was a matter of happiness for Australia to tour Pakistan after a 24-year hiatus, and the visit is of vital importance to Pakistani cricket.
“We will try to be good hosts and the Australian team will have good memories,” Azhar said.
Meanwhile, the veteran drummer is more hopeful that a full Australian squad will travel to the country for the tour due to be played in March.
“The matches are very important because they will be part of the ICC Test Championship, so I think the whole team will be on tour.”
Azhar explained: “I think Australian players will also be delighted to come to Pakistan, and star players like Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner would love to see our youngsters, and they will also be an inspiration to our youngsters and our fans.. The stronger the Australian team is in Pakistan, the better the series will be.
Pakistani cricketers have won major 2021 ICC awards in different categories with Mohammad Rizwan winning the ICC T20 Cricketer of the year, Babar Azam ODI player and Shaheen Shah Afridi Cricketer of the year.
On the accolades, Azhar said, “It is indeed a proud moment for Pakistani cricketers to receive the ICC awards. The whole team is happy and the fans are also happy that so many of our players received awards. .
“We faced great challenges for ten or fifteen years, we played overseas, there were many difficulties, but our domestic cricketers always played well,” he said.
“Players like Babar, Shaheen and Rizwan have done very well, which shows that our fighting spirit remains high even in difficult situations, so we will try to do well this year as well and win more awards.”
He added: “The common thread between these three cricketers is their drive to improve. They just forget the past and fight on and accept the challenges ahead.
Azhar said apart from individual performances, efforts are now being made to bring Pakistan Cricket to first place in all three forms of play. “We have made a good start in the Test Championship, we will try to maintain it.”
