Which teams qualify for the playoffs?
The top four teams after the 35 league matches advance to the playoff week at Kensington Oval. Finishing first or second matters because those teams meet in Qualifier 1 and receive a second route to the final. Third and fourth play the Eliminator, where one defeat ends the season.
| League position | Next match | Route to the final |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Qualifier 1 vs 2nd | Win Qualifier 1, or lose and win Qualifier 2 |
| 2nd | Qualifier 1 vs 1st | Win Qualifier 1, or lose and win Qualifier 2 |
| 3rd | Eliminator vs 4th | Win Eliminator, then win Qualifier 2 |
| 4th | Eliminator vs 3rd | Win Eliminator, then win Qualifier 2 |
How net run rate works
Net run rate compares how quickly a team scores with how quickly its opponents score against it. Across completed matches, the calculation is:
NRR = runs scored per over minus runs conceded per over
A positive NRR means the team has scored faster than its opponents overall. A negative NRR means opponents have scored faster. The calculation uses the tournament’s playing conditions for shortened innings, all-out innings and DLS results, so a simple division from one scorecard may not always match the official figure.
For a basic example, suppose a team scores at 9.00 runs per over and concedes at 8.20 across its completed matches. Its net run rate is +0.800. Winning by a large margin can therefore matter late in the league stage when teams are close on points.
What to watch in the standings
- The top-two race: first and second get two possible chances to reach the final.
- The fourth-place line: this is the cutoff between reaching the Eliminator and going home.
- Games in hand: a team can sit lower despite having a better path if it has played fewer matches.
- NRR pressure: close wins add points but may leave a team vulnerable if several sides finish level.
