India and Bangladesh face off in a second quarter-final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday, March 19. The winner of the contest will face the winner of the third quarter-final between Australia and Pakistan, the semi-final of which is to be held on March 26.
Both India and Bangladesh have exceeded their expectations in the tournament so far. India topped Pool B with six wins from as many games, extending their World Cup winning streak to 10. Their bowling unit is also in top-form at the moment, being the only side to bowl out their opposition in all six games so far.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be playing their first ever knock-out match in a World Cup. Their biggest moments in the group stages were the massive six-wicket victory against Scotland, chasing a target of 319, as well as defeating England by 15 runs, knocking the latter out of the tournament.
India and Bangladesh have played two matches in World Cups till date, in the 2007 and 2011 World Cups respectively. Bangladesh defeated India in the first encounter, knocking them out in the first round itself, before India defeated Bangladesh by 87 runs.
