ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday called upon the nation to support government and armed forces in the ongoing war against terrorism.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Interior Minister Nisar said that nation should have realization that Pakistan was in a state of war. “Armed forces have been fighting terrorists physically for a decade now. Time has now come for the nation to join this war,” he said.
“People should be vigilant and keep any eye on terror suspects in their surroundings. There can be no better intelligence than a vigilant nation.”
He said that a universal number would be released soon so that people could notify security forces about any suspicious activity in their vicinity.
The interior minister dispelled the widespread impression that Islamic seminaries were a breeding ground for terrorism. “I can say with responsibility that 90 percent seminaries have nothing to do with terrorism,” he clarified. He said that those involved in terrorism must be isolated from others.
He said that Pakistan army had never targeted women and children. “Even family of Osama bin Laden was sent to their native country,” he said. “Had our forces targeted non-combatants, they could have done so in Miranshah,” he said.
Despite our efforts, there was no let up in violent attacks from other side, he said, referring to Taliban.
He also called for media blackout for those who incite violence, glorify terrorists and express their support for them.
“We will hold house owner responsible if his house was used by terrorists,” he warned.
The interior minister warned that cellular phone companies must launch a crackdown on unregistered SIMS. He revealed that five SIMS used in Peshawar attack was registered against a woman based in South Punjab.
