
NEW DEHLI (Sports Desk): Pakistan were thumped 8-2 by England in their second Hero Hockey Champions Trophy match on Sunday in Bhubaneswar, India. Pakistan played very bad.
Pakistan came into the match after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Belgium on Saturday.
England grabbed all the opportunities to score against a weak Pakistani defense and were 7-0 up at the end of the fourth quarter with goals from Mark Gleghorne, Nick Catlin, David Condon, Barry Middleton, Ashley Jackson, Sam Ward and Alastair Brogdon.
Pakistan’s Muhammad Arsalan Qadir then scored a consolation goal just three minutes from final whistle but Chris Griffiths added the eighth goal soon after that. Muhammad Irfan netted the last goal of the match just with the final hooter.
England came into this match with a convincing 3-1 victory over one of the strongest teams in the tournament Australia.
