Islamabad (Web Desk): The Government of Pakistan announced Eid-ul-Fitr 2016 (1437 Hijri) Holidays on Tuesday 28th June 2016, Notification issued.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, government offices will remain close on July 5 (Tuesday) due to Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and will reopen on July 11 (Monday) with two weekly off days.
However, – with two weekly off days – federal government employees will enjoy six holidays on the occasion.
The Ministry of Interior made the announcement to this effect in a statement issued.
According to notification, Tuesday July 5, Wednesday July 6, Thursday July 7, Friday July 8 would be public holidays.
Eid-ul-Fitr 1437 Hijri Holidays
Eid-ul-Fitr, the religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated on the first of Shawwal according to the Muslim Hijri calendar, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan is likely to fall on July 6, the Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.
During the last few days of Ramazan, it is customary to prepare for Eid al-Fitr. Families doing shopping for new clothes to look very smart during this holy time.
DG. Met. Dr. Ghulam Rasool said that the moon expected to appear on 29th of Ramadan. The moon will first sighted at Balochistan’s coastal areas including Pasni and Jiwani.
The event is one of the centerpieces of the Muslim calendar. It features large public group prayers and extended family gatherings.
