On Thursday, the government raised the price of gasoline by Rs 4 per liter from October 1 (Friday), following fluctuations in world oil prices.
The decision was made in accordance with the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The new price of gasoline will be Rs 127.20 per liter compared to the current rate of Rs 123.20 per liter.
High speed diesel (HSD) prices increased by Rs 2 per liter and will now cost Rs 122.04 per liter.
The price of kerosene oil also increased by Rs 7.02 per liter to Rs 99.31 per liter against Rs 92.29 per liter.
In addition, light diesel will cost Rs 8.82 more and will therefore be priced at Rs 99.51 per liter.
Earlier today, the regulatory authority had recommended an increase of Rs5.5 and Rs3.5 in the price per liter of gasoline and diesel, respectively.
OGRA had sent a summary to the petroleum division seeking an increase in the prices of petroleum products.
The price of gasoline has been proposed to increase by Rs 5.25 per liter, while diesel by Rs 3.5 per liter as of October 1.
On September 16, the government had increased the price of gasoline by Rs 5 per liter despite the fact that the OGRA had recommended an increase of only Rs 1 per liter.
