There is bad news circulating on social media about Kieron Pollard, the star all-rounder of the West Indies cricket team and a permanent player of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
While the internet is one of the best sources to be updated on what’s going on in the world, it is sometimes used for the wrong reasons. Often times, you can see some bad guys spreading fake news on popular social media platforms. And recently something similar happened to West Indian star Kieran Pollard.
While the star was playing in the T10 league in Abu Dhabi, a fake YouTube video went viral claiming he was involved in a fatal car accident. A series of videos about the incident was posted on the internet, leading to many being scammed by Pollard. Unsurprisingly, the rumors spread like wildfire on Twitter and other social media platforms.

At a time when the fake videos and news went viral, Kieron Pollard swapped his gladiator dean for the Pune Devils in the second match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League on Thursday (28 January). Indeed, Pollard led the team. The West India captain T20I missed a bat and scored just two strokes as his team suffered a crushing 7 goal defeat in the tournament opener.
Fake news is circulating
As soon as rumors of Kieran Pollard’s death started circulating on social media, we checked the video on YouTube and found that it was completely fake. It is worth remembering that something similar happened to former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina. Several YouTube videos claim the hitter was killed in a car accident before quitting rumors and beating up bad guys.
Pollard recently retired from an ongoing tour of the West Indies in Bangladesh out of fear of the coronavirus pandemic. He was one of the few big names on the team to withdraw from the race, forcing West Indies to play the series with an exhausted team. So far the tour has been unforgettable for the Caribbean.
He played as Bangladesh in the ODI series with the three easiest matches. The two teams are currently preparing a series of two friendly matches which will come from February 3.
