David Warner (4) nicked off in the fourth over to a peach of a delivery from quick Anrich Nortje. Steve Smith then hit a well-made 20 but was left surprised when the umpire’s finger went up when struck on the pads by an Adile Phehlukwayo inswinger. He reviewed but the wicket stood on a narrow umpire’s call.
South Africa then had all of the big Aussie three when Aaron Finch (22) was caught in the covers off Dupavillon.
