Manchester United could leapfrog Chelsea into the top four when they welcome Southampton to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Monday night (20:00 kick-off).
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side have been flying high in the top flight recently and currently boast a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions, the best undefeated stretch since the Sir Alex Ferguson era ended.
Those wins have been augmented by the manner of victories, scoring 16 in the past five games.
With Chelsea folding against Sheffield United at the weekend, the Red Devils have the chance to move into the top four with just a few games remaining this season.
Given Man Utd‘s form and the Saints‘ woeful away record against the ‘Big Six’, having won only one of their last 23 games, a home win seems likely.
That said Ralph Hasenhuttl‘s side have become tricky customers post-shutdown, losing just once to Arsenal, and picking up a huge win over Manchester City.
Galvanised by the ferocious form of Danny Ings, another giantkilling is not beyond the realms of possibility for Southampton.
