Nepal and the Philippines will meet in Match No. 6 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier A 2022 on Saturday, February 19. Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amerat will host the match.
Nepal, led by Sandeep Lamichhane, got off to an impressive start to their campaign with a 39-run victory over Oman on Friday. After being sent to bat, Nepal scored 117 for eight on the back of Aarif Sheikh’s 38 ball. Khawar Ali picked up three wickets for Oman.
The Nepalese bowlers did an excellent job as Oman were eliminated by 78 in 17 overs. Naseem Khushi went 24-for-18 with a four and two sixes, but was not supported by the others. Kamal Singh Airee collected three pieces of land for Nepal.
The Philippines, led by Jonathan Hill, got off to a disappointing start to their campaign, succumbing to a 118-run loss at the hands of Canada on Friday. Canada racked up a colossal score of 216 for one in 20 overs. Starter Matthew Spoors fired flat out on his way to an undefeated 108 off 66 balls.
Rayyan Pathan also made 73 of 44. From then on, the Philippines could only manage 98 of five. Daniel Smith scored for them on a 36-ball 35. Kaleem Sana and Saad Bin Zafar each picked up two wickets to push the Philippines into batting with their back foot.
