Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Police Commissioner of Solapur, praises Islam as a religion of Peace, in a program organized by Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) of Dr. Zakir Naik. Mr. Upadhayay quotes verses from Quran, instances from the life of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to stress upon the fact that Islam propgates love and compassion.
He says that the misconceptions spread against Islam are either deliberately done to destabilise the society, spread a culture of hatered, or due to ignorance, and urges everyone to read about Islam, and follow the goodness that Islam preaches.
A practioner of Hindu religion, Bhushan Kumar claims that he has read Quran in Hindi, English and Marathi, and has also been reading the biography of prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam. Through examples from these books, and as per the knowledge gained through discussions with Muslim scholars, he has come to the conclusion that Islam is a religion of peace, which did not spread by the use of sword, but by compassion, love and mercy.
