The first of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between Zimbabwe and Pakistan is scheduled on October 1 with the other two taking place on October 3 and 5 which will end the tour that also consists of Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
Since 1993, both the countries have played 14 games at Harare Sports Club (HSC) with the visitors dominating with 11 victories while their opponents have managed just two and one match had ended on a tie. While, Elton Chigumbura will be leading the side as usual, Zimbabwe replaced Regis Chakabva by Richmond Mutumbami for their first-choice wicketkeeper.
On the other hand, Shahid Afridi will continue to lead Pakistan in the T20I format, while Azhar Ali will captain the ODI side. Incidentally, neither skipper will play in the other format. Afridi has retired from ODIs, while Azhar will stay clear of T20Is possibly to give younger players a chance.
Meanewhile, the overall record between both the sides is also similar— Pakistan and Zimbabwe have clashed in a total of 51 ODIs, with the former winning 45 of those while Zimbabwe had managed to pull off three upsets. While two games have ended in no-results, one has been tied. The South Asian giants however, have a seven-out-of-seven record in T20Is against Zimbabwe.
