Punjab Government is all set to take another initiative and provide pink scooties (gulabi bikes) to girls & women in Punjab. 50CC Pink Bikes estimated cost Rs. 80,000/- each.
After laptop, solar lamps and rangeelay rickshay, Punjab Government is all set to take another initiative and provide pink scooties (gulabi bikes) to women in Punjab. This project will take flight from Lahore city followed by expansion to other cities of Punjab.
Government had announced about this project an year ago in March, 2014. Project committee and officials of partner bank The Bank of Punjab briefed that it has been decided that funds to this project will be allocated in upcoming annual budget.
Special task has been assigned to Engineering department of UET and Transport Department to design the scooties keeping in mind convenience for women. Contract to manufacture these special bikes for women has been given to a Chinese company which will manufacture 50CC pink bikes est. Rs. 80,000/- each.
Moreover, apart from handing over scooties to girls and women, government will also provide training and workshops on safety and driving.
