Luis Suarez is unlikely to start when Uruguay take on Costa Rica in World Cup Group D – but Diego Forlan should feature.
Uruguay talisman Suarez underwent a knee operation back in May and has been gradually building up his match fitness since.
The Liverpool striker, who netted 31 Premier League goals for the Reds last season, returned to training on Thursday but coach Oscar Tabarez is refusing to rush his star forward back.
“I couldn’t say when we will be able to have Suarez available,” said Tabarez. “We have our expectations but until we do more tests, he will not play.”
Cerezo Osaka striker Forlan was also in training on Thursday, having missed Wednesday’s session at Uruguay’s base camp in Sete Lagoas, near Belo Horizonte, with a stomach bug.
