Karnali Yaks celebrate after chasing a record 187 against Biratnagar in NPL Match 6.

Six matches have already filled the NPL Season 3 record book. Karnali’s 187 is the highest team total, Lokesh Bam’s 87 is the highest individual score, Kishor Mahato’s four for 22 is the best bowling, and the one-ball finish in Match 6 is the closest ending the season has produced. Chasing sides have won four of the six matches, all six Player of the Match awards have gone to Nepali players, and the tournament has already seen its first season of official T20 status and Decision Review System reviews. Every mark below comes from the first six matches, from 26 to 29 October 2026.

Team records

Karnali’s 187 for 6 against Biratnagar in Match 6 is the highest team total of the season so far, built on Sompal Kami’s unbeaten 62, in a match where Biratnagar’s Lokesh Bam had already hit 87. Biratnagar’s 186 for 7 is the second-highest total, making Match 6 the highest-scoring game of the season with 373 runs in total. At the other end sits Sudurpaschim’s 87 all out against Lumbini in the season opener, the lowest total so far, chased down in just 9.5 overs.

Margins tell the same story of a tournament that stays close. The biggest win by runs is Karnali’s 19-run defence of 132 against Janakpur in Match 3, while the biggest win by wickets is Janakpur’s eight-wicket chase of 116 against Kathmandu in Match 5. The closest finish needs no introduction: Karnali’s chase of 187 against Biratnagar, settled with one ball left after a final over that included a dropped catch and an extra run off a fielding mistake.

Batting records

Five fifties have been scored in the first six matches, and Bam’s 87 leads them all: 87 off 52 balls with three fours and nine sixes, the most sixes any batter has hit in a single innings so far. Next on the sixes list is Dawid Malan with five in his 70 against Biratnagar, followed by Ariful Islam with four in his 43 against Janakpur.

Sompal Kami’s unbeaten 62 against Biratnagar, Moeen Ali’s unbeaten 58 against Kathmandu and Dipendra Singh Airee’s unbeaten 51 against Pokhara complete the fifty list. All three unbeaten fifties came in winning chases — a reminder that the season’s biggest innings have mostly arrived when the pressure was highest.

Bowling and fielding records

Four bowlers have taken four wickets in a match so far, and Mahato’s four for 22 against Sudurpaschim in the opener leads them on runs conceded. Kamal Singh Airee’s four for 26 against Biratnagar, Rahul Yadav’s four for 31 against Kathmandu and Sompal Kami’s four for 33 against Biratnagar complete the four-wicket club, with Rahul’s six wickets across two matches leading the overall wicket charts.

Fielding has its own record: Gulshan Jha took three catches against Janakpur in Match 3 (Trit Raj Das, Anil Sah and Abhisekh Tiwari), the most catches by any fielder in a single match so far, adding to an unbeaten 28 in the Match 6 chase and four catches in total across his two matches. All six Player of the Match awards in the first six matches have gone to Nepali players, from Sher Malla’s opening spell to Sompal Kami’s all-round show in Match 6.

Firsts that frame the season

Several of these records sit inside a season of firsts. Season 3 is the first NPL edition played with official T20 status from the ICC, so every run and wicket in these records counts towards official career statistics. It is also the first season played with the Decision Review System, with two unsuccessful reviews per team per innings, and chasing sides have won four of the first six matches — a trend Saturday’s double-header will either extend or break.
