The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has imposed a hefty fine of Rs 30 crore on Jazz, an internet and mobile network service provider, for poor quality of service in seven cities in Pakistan.
A PTA panel headed by PTA Chairman Major General (r) Amir Azeem Bajwa announced the verdict, saying Jazz failed to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) for service quality in the seven cities.
The telecommunications authority conducted a QoS investigation in December 2020 and found that Jazz was providing poor quality services to its customers.
Subsequently, the operator was informed of the shortcomings and given a month to improve its services. Jazz, on the other hand, remained reluctant to offer quality services to users in the seven cities.
In addition to the fine, PTA has warned Jazz of legal action in case it fails to improve the quality of its services in accordance with licensing standards and QoS regulations.
Jazz recently landed in hot water after its system related to changing plans and paying bills went offline for weeks, leaving customers in mental anguish.
