Australia have a strong 2-0 lead over England in the current Ashes series. Another loss in the Ashes series looms large for England if they don’t fulfill their potential in the next Test to be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) starting on December 26th.
Australia has been brutal on the show so far. After completing an impressive nine-wicker victory in the first Test at Gabba, they continued to play the same role in the next game at the Adelaide Oval.
With Pat Cummins ruled out hours before the Test, the captaincy was handed over to Steve Smith, who won the toss and decided to hit first. The pitchers then moved forward to take down the Poms in 236 .
Labuschagne scored fifty in the second round and was well supported by Travis Head (51), who scored 230 and declared, setting a goal of 468 for the English. Root’s men tried to save the tie, but the hosts were very good with the pink ball. Australia brought down the Poms in 192, winning the game by 275 runs.
It was a very good performance overall by the Australians and they hope to seal the series in the third Test. England, on the other hand, need to be at their best to keep the series alive.
The 3rd test begins on Sunday and runs until Sunday, December 26.
